Whether it is bare copper wire, enameled wire, tinned wire, etc., the characteristics of wire drawing Lubricant itself and its correct use, maintenance and management have a direct impact on its product quality, production efficiency, and production cost.
The function, characteristics and composition of wire drawing lubricant. During the drawing process of copper wire, friction occurs between the copper wire, the drawing die and the capstans, so spraying or dipping is used. The main function of emulsion is to lubricate and cool, reduce friction between metals, and take away the heat generated. At the same time, drawing Lubricant should also have other necessary characteristics: preventing oxidation of copper wire, non-stick wire, cleanability, no foam, non-toxic and stable performance.
First of all, the appropriate drawing oil should be selected according to the process requirements. Generally, two aspects of process and lubricant quality should be considered, that is, process considerations: drawing machine model, liquid supply system, wire type, wire diameter, and surface condition requirements. The quality characteristics of lubricating fluid should be considered: lubricity, antioxidant properties, cleanability, usage concentration, lifespan, emulsion stability, usage cost, etc. Since emulsion is a so-called "unstable system", it is important to master the correct method of use. Pay special attention to the following aspects during use:
1. Use water for preparation.
It is best to use soft water or deionized water to prepare the liquid, because the composition of the emulsion is mostly water. The hard components in the water will react chemically with the emulsifier in the drawing oil, and the amount of emulsifier will be reduced, causing the oil and water to separate. Therefore, the hardness of water has a great influence on the stability of the emulsion, and the salts generated by the reaction will adhere to the surface of the copper wire, affecting subsequent processing.
2. Operating temperature.
The reasons for controlling the operating temperature are: first, to control water evaporation to avoid accumulation of hardness and the generation of solid salts; second, to ensure lubricity. The lubricity decreases at low temperatures. Centralized liquid supply systems should usually use heat and cold exchangers.
3. Dies lubrication area.
The angle of the lubrication zone of the dies is required to be larger, which is conducive to the precipitation of copper chips and sufficient lubrication. The lubrication area and working area of the dies must be smooth and clean, without defects such as cracks or blisters. The connections between the die holes should be arc transitions. The drawing dies must be perpendicular to the direction of the single wire draw so that its stress point is always at the center of the die to ensure uniform stress on the mold and extend the life of the dies.
4. Selection of wire drawing Lubricant
Efficient wire drawing lubricant can greatly reduce the friction between the metal wire and the die wall, improve the surface finish of the copper wire, reduce the energy consumption of the equipment, and improve the wire drawing speed and production efficiency of the equipment.
Maintenance of wire drawing Lubricant is necessary. In management and maintenance, the monitoring and management of concentration, anti-corrosion and purification are the most important.
When the wire drawing lubricant becomes corrupted, the following phenomena occur:
(1) Slight putrid smell
(2) The emulsion changes from milky white to grayish brown
(3) Sharp drop in pH
(4) The emulsion produces substances such as sediment or sludge due to water separation.
(5) The lubrication performance is greatly reduced
To prevent the corruption of wire drawing lubricant, the following measures can be taken:
A. Regularly clean and maintain the circulation system, remove oil stains and other debris, and disinfect with bactericide if necessary. It is strictly forbidden to put perishable substances into the drawing circulation pool.
B. When preparing wire drawing lubricant, use tap water or soft water and avoid using groundwater with high hardness. Maintain the concentration of wire drawing lubricant. If the concentration is too thin, it will easily encourage the growth of bacteria.
C. Maintain an appropriate pH value. When the pH value is too low, triethanolamine can be used to adjust it.
Copper wire drawing lubricant must be in a clean environment to fully exert its characteristics, so the drawing lubricating oil must be purified as follows:
Install a filtration cooling system to reduce copper shavings, copper powder and other impurities
After performing certain maintenance on the wire drawing lubricant circulation system, you only need to add a certain amount of crude oil every month to meet the normal use requirements. This can not only maintain the excellent lubrication performance of the wire drawing Lubricant, but also extend the service life and reduce costs.
