Bare copper wire, tinned copper wire, and CCA wire are often used in the production of security cables. They can be used for braiding coaxial cables and shielding nets for shielded sheathed wires.
Bare copper wire is drawn from a pure copper rod through the Copper rod breakdown machine, Intermediate wire drawing machine, etc. The material is single, with copper metal on the inside and outside. The appearance is yellow, and the color is darker due to the purity of the copper.
The process of tinned copper wire is slightly more complicated than that of bare copper wire. The pure copper rod is drawn into wire and then a thin layer of tin is plated on the surface of the copper wire using hot tin plating process to become tinned copper wire. This kind of wire looks silver because tin is a silver metal. Tinned copper wire is relatively soft and has good electrical conductivity. Compared with bare copper wire, it has stronger corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, which can greatly extend the service life of weak current cables.
The CCA wire is made of cladding welding technology, and the copper strip is coated on the outer surface of the aluminum rod core wire. The solid interatomic gold bonding is formed between the copper layer and the core wire. The two different metal materials are combined into an inseparable whole, which can be drawn and annealed like a single metal wire. During the drawing process, the copper and aluminum are reduced in proportion, and the volume ratio of the copper layer remains relatively constant.CCA wire is very light and has a yellow appearance. However, compared with the first two, its electrical conductivity is much worse, it is not flexible enough, it is easy to break, and its corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance are also relatively low. If the copper-clad aluminum production process is not well controlled, the finished CCA product is likely to become a pile of waste products in a short period of time.
Bare copper wire, tinned copper wire, and CCA wire are widely used in braided shielding nets. Due to material differences, the weak current cable market is mixed. CCA wire and bare copper wire have the same appearance and color. At first glance, it is difficult to distinguish them, which is extremely confusing. Here are some common methods for distinguishing between bare copper wire, tinned copper wire and CCA wire.Taking the video cable SYV75-5 braided mesh as the detection object, the following methods can be used
1. Check the appearance. By peeling off the sheath of the video cable, you can quickly identify the tinned copper wire from the three wire materials, because only the tinned copper wire is silver, and the other two are yellow. Next, cut a section of video wire vertically and neatly, and look at the cross section of the braided mesh. If it is yellow, it is a bare copper wire. If it is white, it is a CCA wire.
2. Use a tool to scratch the surface of the video cable braided mesh. The tinned copper mesh will appear yellow after scratching, the bare copper mesh will still be yellow, and the copper-clad aluminum mesh will appear white with snowflakes. The same effect can be obtained by rubbing the video cable braided net on the cement floor.
3. Burning test. Dismantle the video cable braided net, turn it to one side, and approach the flame. If it forms a ball-like object after burning, it is copper; if the metal wire turns white and droops after burning, it will break when touched with your hands,it is CCA.
